The replacement for Karachi Kings Tabraiz Shamsi and Lahore Qalandars’ Rassie van der Dussen have been announced for the remaining matches of the ninth season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
Both Proteas players are leaving to participate in the ČSA domestic T20 Challenge. Karachi replace veteran Imran Tahir for Shamsi while England’s Sam Billings replaces Van der Dussen.
Van der Dussen was only available for eight matches, while Shamsi was part of the Kings squad for the first seven matches.
It should be noted that the Qalandars have lost six matches with one match being eliminated. Their chances of qualifying are slim but all hope is not lost for Shaheen Afridi’s troops. However, since there is little hope, things are not so simple.
Lahore have three more matches to play, not only needing to win them by a huge margin but also requiring Karachi and Islamabad to lose their remaining matches.
Similar to the previous edition, the ninth edition of PSL will be played in two stages. Matches from 17 to 27 February were played at the Multan Cricket Stadium and the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, with a total of 14 matches played.
The cricket action then shifted to Rawalpindi’s Pindi Cricket Stadium and Karachi’s National Bank Stadium where 16 matches will be played from February 28 to March 12. The tournament will end in the playoffs in Karachi.
