Security forces conduct multiple intelligence-based operations across Mastung, Quetta, Kalat and Sibi
RAWALPINDI, September 4: Security forces have killed 36 terrorists in multiple intelligence-based operations across Balochistan during the last 12 to 24 hours, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Friday.
According to the military’s media wing, the operations were conducted in Mastung, Quetta, Kalat and Sibi against what it described as Indian proxies, including “Fitna al Hindustan” and “Fitna al Khwarij.”
In Mastung, security forces detected and engaged the movement of militants during an operation on September 4. An intense exchange of fire followed, resulting in the deaths of six terrorists, ISPR said.
A cache of ammunition and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) was also destroyed at the site.
In another intelligence-based operation in the Shaban area of Quetta district, security forces identified four suspected militant hideouts. Following an exchange of fire, 26 militants were killed, according to ISPR.
Security forces also conducted an operation in Kalat, where troops raided a suspected terrorist hideout and killed two militants.
Meanwhile, in the Bhag area of Sibi district, security forces, supported by the local population, foiled an attempt to attack the Bhag police station. Two terrorists were killed during the ensuing exchange of fire, ISPR said.
The latest operations bring the number of terrorists killed across Balochistan to 48 during the past 48 to 72 hours, according to ISPR.
Sanitisation operations are continuing in the affected areas to locate and eliminate any other militants who may be present.
ISPR said the operations are part of the ongoing counter-terrorism campaign under Azm-e-Istehkam, approved by the Federal Apex Committee under the National Action Plan.
The military said security forces and law enforcement agencies would continue the campaign against what it described as foreign-sponsored and supported terrorism across Pakistan.
