RAWALPINDI: Security forces killed 12 terrorists during an intelligence-based operation in Kalat district of Balochistan, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Friday.
According to the military’s media wing, the operation was carried out on September 2 after intelligence reports indicated the presence of militants allegedly affiliated with what ISPR described as the Indian proxy group “Fitna al Hindustan.”
During the operation, security forces located and monitored a suspected terrorist hideout before launching a targeted action, ISPR said.
“Prompt surgical action” resulted in the deaths of all 12 terrorists, according to the statement.
Security forces also recovered and destroyed a cache of ammunition and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) at the site, ISPR said.
A sanitisation operation is currently underway in the area to search for and eliminate any other militants who may still be present.
The military said the operation forms part of Pakistan’s ongoing counter-terrorism campaign under Azm-e-Istehkam, approved by the Federal Apex Committee under the National Action Plan.
ISPR said security forces and law enforcement agencies would continue operations against what it described as foreign-sponsored and supported terrorism across the country.
The latest operation comes as Pakistan continues intensified counter-terrorism efforts in Balochistan and other parts of the country amid ongoing security challenges.
