Mirpur: The 20th meeting of the Board of Governors of the Mangla Dam Housing Authority (MDHA) was chaired by the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Minister for Mangla Dam Affairs and MDHA, Chaudhry Qasim Majeed, at Kashmir House, Islamabad.
The meeting was attended by Minister for Public Works and Communications Chaudhry Azhar Sadiq, Minister for Electricity Chaudhry Arshad Hussain, Minister for Physical Planning and Housing Chaudhry Yasir Sultan, Senior Member Board of Revenue Zaheeruddin Qureshi, Commissioner Mirpur Division Chaudhry Mukhtar Hussain, Director MDHA Chaudhry Amjad Iqbal, Member Technical and Chief Engineer Mehmood Mumtaz Rathore, Director Works Inam-ul-Haq, and Deputy Director Muhammad Saqib.
During the meeting, the board gave in-principle approval for the PC-1 related to additional families affected by the Mangla Dam project. The concerned department was directed to expedite the preparation of the PC-1 to ensure timely commencement of work for the affected families. A committee was also established to resolve outstanding issues comprehensively.
The Chairman of the Board also approved the allocation of land for a school in Sector A of New City, Mirpur. Emphasis was placed on completing ongoing projects in new towns without delay.
Speaking on the occasion, Chaudhry Qasim Majeed assured that issues concerning the additional families affected by the Mangla Dam project would be resolved promptly. He reaffirmed that the expectations of the affected families from the government would be met, adding that all pending matters would be addressed.
He further stated that the Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Chaudhry Anwar-ul-Haq, has issued special directives regarding the affected families, and these directives would be implemented in letter and spirit.
