MADINAH: Saudi Arabia has announced the discovery of an estimated 110 million tonnes of raw mineral resources containing uranium in the Madinah region.
According to an international news agency, Saudi state television reported on Monday that Saudi Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman announced the discovery while addressing the General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Vienna, Austria.
According to Arab media reports, Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman said drilling and geological exploration carried out at the Jabal Sayid project in Madinah had revealed estimated resources of approximately 110 million tonnes of raw material.
He said the deposits contain rare minerals as well as uranium.
The announcement was made during the IAEA General Conference, where the Saudi energy minister highlighted the findings from geological exploration and drilling activities in the region
