ISLAMABAD: Zong has launched Z HomeFi, which it describes as Pakistan’s first 5G Fixed Wireless Access home broadband service, offering households high-speed internet without the need for fibre or traditional fixed-line installation.

The service has initially been introduced in 10 major cities and is available through Zong Customer Service Centres. The company plans to expand availability to its franchise network at a later stage.

Z HomeFi uses 5G Fixed Wireless Access technology to deliver broadband through indoor customer-premises equipment, allowing users to connect without laying fibre cables or installing conventional wired infrastructure.

Plans Range From 10 Mbps to 50 Mbps

Zong said the service is being offered through 12 prepaid packages with speeds ranging from 10 Mbps to 50 Mbps.

Monthly data allowances range from 100 GB to 500 GB, while package prices start at Rs4,500 and go up to Rs11,000 per month, inclusive of taxes.

The indoor 5G Customer Premises Equipment, or CPE, is priced at Rs22,000 and is designed for a plug-and-connect setup.

The packages are aimed at different household requirements, including web browsing, video streaming, remote work and online education.

Service Available in 10 Cities

Zong said the launch is intended to broaden access to home broadband by reducing dependence on fibre deployment and fixed-line infrastructure.

However, the company did not identify the 10 cities in its announcement.

Sajid Munir, Head of Marketing at Zong, said the service was designed to bring 5G connectivity directly into homes while simplifying broadband installation.

“With Z HomeFi, we are bringing 5G technology directly into Pakistani homes, giving customers a reliable and convenient broadband experience without the complexity of fibre installation or fixed-line infrastructure,” he said.

5G Moves Beyond Smartphones

The launch represents an expansion of 5G use beyond mobile devices, with Fixed Wireless Access increasingly being positioned as an alternative broadband delivery method where wired connectivity is unavailable or difficult to deploy.

Zong said Z HomeFi forms part of its broader digital-services strategy and its efforts to support Pakistan’s growing demand for home connectivity.

The company said the service would initially remain available exclusively through its Customer Service Centres before being extended to additional sales channels.
