ABU DHABI: The 4th China-Gulf Forum (CGF) kicked off in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), providing a platform for Chinese and Gulf youth to share ideas. partnership.
Chinese Ambassador to the UAE Zhang Yiming spoke at the opening ceremony. Looking at the bilateral cooperation between China and the Gulf countries in many fields, Zhang called on the youth to make wise contributions and take the traditional friendship to a higher level.
As this year marks the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the UAE, students from China and the Gulf countries are looking forward to more opportunities for people-to-people exchanges.
“I want to study in China to continue my education,” Hamdan Jaroor, a student at New York University Abu Dhabi and a member of the CGF team, told CGTN. “I just like Chinese culture.”
Another Emirati student, Abdulmalek Alhakem, who won the 2020 Chinese Bridge Championship in the UAE, expressed his opinion: “China and the UAE have a long history in art, trade and many other fields, so I think we have a good future together.”
Noting that the number of visitors to China from the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries is increasing, Lin Xianyu, chairman of the forum for China, said that it is the right time to facilitate conversation, especially among young people.
Launched in 2019, CGF is the region’s first student platform that brings together academics, business leaders and cultural experts from all walks of life to discuss China-Gulf relations.
