ISLAMABAD: A 24-year-old candidate died after collapsing during a running test for recruitment to Islamabad Police at Police Lines, according to official sources.

The candidate, identified as Ishaq, suddenly lost consciousness while taking part in the physical endurance test. He was taken by a Police Lines ambulance to the emergency department of the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences, but doctors said he had died before reaching the hospital.

The immediate cause of death was not officially disclosed. Authorities had not announced whether a medical examination or inquiry would be conducted into the incident.

Recruitment Tests Continue at Two Centres

Physical and running tests for Islamabad Police recruitment continued at the F-9 and Police Lines test centres on Wednesday, July 29.

Islamabad Police had advertised its latest recruitment drive earlier in July, with the application process closing on July 15.

A police spokesperson said senior officers were supervising the recruitment process on the instructions of Islamabad Inspector General Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi. Security, medical and administrative arrangements were also being monitored to ensure the tests were completed in an organised manner.

DIG Headquarters Muhammad Ateeq Tahir and DIG Security Rana Umar Farooq visited the F-9 test centre to review the physical and running tests and inspect the security arrangements.

The officers directed recruitment staff to complete all stages under the prescribed procedures and maintain the required arrangements at the testing venues.
