MARDAN: The Water and Sanitation Services Company Mardan (WSSCM) marked Pakistan’s 79th Independence Day with national spirit through cleanliness activities, a flag-hoisting ceremony and a plantation drive across the city.
As part of the celebrations, WSSCM teams carried out special cleanliness activities at various locations in Mardan. The company’s head office was decorated with the national flag and illuminated in green and white.
A flag-hoisting ceremony was held at the WSSCM head office, where Chairman Board of Directors Engineer Adil Nawaz, BoD member Haroon Rashid, SP Headquarters SSU Police Lines Mardan Kamran Khan, Additional Assistant Commissioner Revenue Wisal Ahmad and Regional Municipal Officer Asadullah jointly hoisted the national flag.
The ceremony also featured a cake-cutting ceremony and the inauguration of a plantation drive aimed at promoting a clean, green and healthy environment. Organisers encouraged citizens to participate in plantation activities and contribute to environmental protection.
Speaking on the occasion, Chairman BoD Engineer Adil Nawaz said love for the country was an integral part of faith and described independence as a great blessing.
He said plantation was a noble cause and a form of charity, urging people from all sections of society to actively participate in plantation drives and contribute to making Pakistan cleaner and greener.
Adil Nawaz paid tribute to the Muslims of the subcontinent for their historic struggle and sacrifices for the creation of Pakistan. He said Independence Day should not be limited to celebrations but should also serve as a reminder of the sacrifices made by previous generations.
He called for a renewed national commitment to Pakistan’s development, prosperity, stability, cleanliness and environmental sustainability, stressing the importance of collective responsibility towards the country.
The ceremony concluded with prayers for Pakistan’s peace, progress, prosperity and stability.
