Women University Mardan holds first Faculty Board meeting, approves major academic reforms

Mardan: Women University Mardan convened the first meeting of the Board of Faculty of Sciences and Faculty of Arts & Humanities under the chairmanship of Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Razia Sultana.

The meeting was attended by board members, Director Academics Ms. Haleema Ikram, and external experts Prof. Dr. Rasul Jan and Prof. Dr. Minhaj-ul-Hassan, who contributed academic input on curriculum development and policy implementation.

The board reviewed key academic matters including curriculum enhancement, quality assurance, and compliance with Higher Education Commission (HEC) policies. It unanimously approved recommendations from all departments for submission to the university’s Academic Council.

Major decisions included the approval of a mandatory 3-credit hour Artificial Intelligence (AI) course across relevant programs, inclusion of Fehme-ul-Quran I & II as compulsory credit-bearing subjects for eligible students, and adoption of the revised Pakistan Studies curriculum in line with HEC guidelines.

The meeting also approved proposals for new academic programs in the Department of Allied Health Sciences and Art & Design, aimed at expanding educational opportunities for female students in emerging disciplines.

Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Razia Sultana emphasized curriculum modernization, research, and adherence to national academic standards, while external experts praised the university’s efforts in strengthening academic governance and reforms.

The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks, reaffirming the university’s commitment to academic excellence and women’s empowerment through higher education.
