Abbottabad: The Women and Children Teaching Hospital Abbottabad has released its monthly performance report, highlighting a significant patient load and expanded diagnostic services despite staffing constraints.
According to hospital officials, around 30,000 women and children were examined in the outpatient departments (OPDs) during the month. The facility also recorded approximately 500 births in the labour room, while 200 newborns received care in the neonatal nursery.
Deputy Medical Officer Dr. Iram Siddique said that 12,000 women were examined in the antenatal OPD, while the paediatric OPD treated nearly 18,000 children. She added that these figures do not include additional patients admitted to maternity and children’s wards.
The hospital laboratory is currently conducting 28 different types of diagnostic tests, and for the first time, a CBC test facility has been introduced in the evening hours, extending service availability until 7pm.
Officials noted that despite shortages of doctors, nurses, and support staff, the hospital continues to provide services under the supervision of Medical Superintendent Dr. Aamir Israr, with efforts focused on improving patient care using available resources.
