SWABI: Senate Chairman Syed Yousuf Raza Gillani said on Tuesday that Pakistan played a “critical role” in facilitating a ceasefire understanding and a memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iran in Switzerland.
He made the remarks while addressing the annual convocation of the Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology as chief guest. The event was attended by senior academics, government officials, and students.
Gillani said Pakistan’s diplomatic engagement reflected its commitment to peace and stability, adding that the country has consistently been a victim of terrorism while contributing to global peace efforts.
He stressed that the world is being reshaped by innovation and technology, and said nations investing in education, research, and human development would lead future progress.
At the convocation, degrees were awarded to 529 graduates, including six PhD scholars, 50 MS students, and 473 BS students.
KP Governor Faisal Karim Kundi also attended the ceremony and suggested expanding the institute’s presence in other districts to strengthen IT and technical training opportunities.
