A 28-year-old woman reportedly fell from the parapet wall of Soan Bridge in Rawalpindi and drowned while allegedly recording a TikTok video.
RAWALPINDI: A 28-year-old woman drowned in the Soan River on Wednesday after reportedly falling from the low parapet wall of Soan Bridge while allegedly making a TikTok video, police said.
The woman, identified as Ms K, was an assistant associated with the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) and a resident of Gulistan Colony, Rawalpindi.
According to police, eyewitnesses reported that the woman had been standing on the low concrete wall along the bridge when she accidentally fell into the river.
Police said she had parked her motorcycle beside the bridge before climbing onto the wall.
Rescue 1122 teams reached the scene shortly after the incident and launched a search operation. After more than an hour of efforts, rescuers recovered the woman’s body from the river and shifted it to District Headquarters Hospital, Rawalpindi.
Police officials said the incident appeared to be accidental, while the circumstances surrounding the reported video recording were being assessed.
Search for Missing Five-Year-Old Suspended
Separately, Rescue 1122 has suspended its search for five-year-old Hareem Ali, who was feared to have been swept away by an open drain near Committee Chowk Landa Bazaar.
The search operation continued for five days but was called off after rescue teams failed to locate the girl.
Hareem’s family had announced a Rs500,000 reward for information that could help locate her.
According to her father, the child disappeared in the early hours of Thursday while the family was preparing to leave for home. He said Hareem had been standing near their car when he briefly turned toward the vehicle to unlock its door, only to find that she was missing.
Authorities have not yet been able to determine the girl’s whereabouts.
