ISLAMABAD, November 5, 2026: Domestic gas consumers across Pakistan will receive natural gas for only eight hours a day under a revised winter supply schedule announced by Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) and Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC), as authorities tighten load management amid rising seasonal demand and fuel shortages.

Under the new schedule, households will receive gas during three designated periods covering breakfast, lunch and dinner preparation, with supplies unavailable for much of the remaining day.

The revised timings apply to domestic consumers served by SNGPL in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and SSGC in Sindh and Balochistan.

According to an SNGPL spokesperson, the revised schedule is intended to ensure gas availability during essential household cooking hours as winter demand increases.

The company supplies natural gas to consumers in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where households will receive gas during the three specified periods.

Meanwhile, SSGC has also tightened its domestic gas supply arrangements in Sindh and Balochistan, implementing the revised eight-hour schedule with immediate effect.

Sources at SSGC attributed the stricter load management measures to a shortage of liquefied natural gas (LNG) and a sharp increase in winter consumption.

They said domestic gas demand was expected to double during the colder months, placing additional pressure on available supplies.

The sources also pointed to disruptions in fuel availability linked to the situation in the Middle East, which they said had further complicated supply management.

The restrictions come as households are already facing higher energy costs, with liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), commonly used as an alternative to piped natural gas, becoming increasingly expensive.

Energy experts warned that the combination of limited piped gas availability and elevated LPG prices could create additional difficulties for domestic consumers during the winter season.

The revised arrangements mean households will need to plan cooking and other gas-dependent activities around the three announced supply periods.
