White House Drops Taylor Swift Songs From Trump Videos

2 Min Read

The White House has removed Taylor Swift songs from some videos shared through President Donald Trump’s campaign and White House social media accounts, although no official explanation has been given for the move.

According to Reuters, representatives for the White House and Swift did not immediately comment on the removal. It also remains unclear whether Swift or her representatives objected to the use of her music or whether another reason prompted the decision.

Long-Running Political Tensions

Taylor Swift and Trump have had political differences for several years. During the 2024 US presidential election, Swift endorsed Democratic candidate Kamala Harris, while she had also criticised Trump’s policies during the 2020 election campaign.

Trump subsequently responded publicly to Swift’s political stance and has made critical remarks about the singer on several occasions.

The use of music by major artists in Trump-related social media content has also attracted attention beyond Swift. Artists including Sabrina Carpenter and Ariana Grande have previously expressed opposition to their music being used by political figures or campaigns.

Swift Songs Previously Used in Trump Content

In recent months, Trump-related social media accounts used references to two Swift songs in a video that linked their titles and lyrics to political messages involving issues including immigration and Democratic political figures.

Another video released in June featured Trump at various events with a Swift song playing in the background.

The White House has also previously shared videos featuring Swift’s music, including footage of Trump meeting the Artemis II mission crew and other political and government-related content.

Trump’s communications team has increasingly used popular music alongside images and videos highlighting the president’s political activities and administration policies.

For now, the specific reason why Swift’s songs were removed from the videos remains unclear, as neither the White House nor Swift’s representatives have publicly provided a definitive explanation.
