Apple is rolling out iOS 27 to iPhone users, bringing new features and updates across several core apps, but some older models will not be eligible for the upgrade.
Apple is set to make its latest mobile operating system, iOS 27, available to the public from the night of September 14.
The new operating system introduces several updates, particularly to Mail, Safari, Camera, Photos, Maps and Find My.
One of the most prominent changes involves Apple’s digital assistant Siri, which is being enhanced with artificial intelligence capabilities through Apple Intelligence.
However, not every iPhone compatible with iOS 27 will be able to access all of its new AI-powered features.
According to the information provided, Apple Intelligence features will be limited to the iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, iPhone 16 series, iPhone 17 series, iPhone 18 Pro models and the foldable iPhone Duo, as these features require an A17 Pro or newer processor.
iPhones Compatible With iOS 27
Despite the hardware requirements for Apple Intelligence, iOS 27 itself will be available on a wider range of devices.
The new operating system will support iPhone 11 and newer models, while iPhones released in 2018 or earlier will not be eligible for the update.
Compatible models include:
- iPhone 11, 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max
- iPhone 12 series
- iPhone 13 series
- iPhone 14 series
- iPhone 15 series
- iPhone 16 series
- iPhone 17 series
- iPhone SE (2nd generation and later)
Users with compatible devices will therefore be able to install iOS 27, although access to certain Apple Intelligence features will depend on the device’s processor and hardware capabilities.
