Several users have reported unexpected WhatsApp account suspensions, with the messaging platform reviewing blocked accounts to determine whether any violations of its policies occurred.
ISLAMABAD: Multiple WhatsApp users have reported that their accounts were suddenly suspended, leaving them temporarily unable to access the popular messaging platform.
Over the past 24 hours, several users took to social media to complain that their WhatsApp accounts had been blocked without any clear explanation. Affected users said they received notifications informing them that their accounts were suspended and were currently under review.
According to the message shared by WhatsApp, the company is examining account activity and device information to determine whether users violated its terms of service.
WhatsApp has stated that the review process is generally completed within 24 hours, after which users are informed about the outcome of the investigation.
The company’s parent organization, Meta, has acknowledged that some accounts can occasionally be suspended mistakenly. However, it said such actions are part of efforts to protect users from spam, scams, fraud, and other harmful activities.
Under WhatsApp’s policies, accounts involved in spam, fraudulent activities, or actions that threaten platform security may face restrictions or suspension. Users who believe their accounts were blocked incorrectly can submit a review request for further assessment.
The latest reports have renewed discussions among users about automated moderation systems and how digital platforms identify possible policy violations while managing millions of accounts worldwide.
