ISLAMABAD — Westminster International School Bahria Campus concluded Phoenix Fest and Mavericks 2026, a five-day interschool festival that brought together more than 40 schools and over 2,500 students from across Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
The event combined sports, academic competitions and creative activities, providing students with a platform to showcase athletic ability, intellectual skills and artistic talent. Pakistan tennis player Sara Mansoor attended the opening ceremony as guest of honour and formally inaugurated the festival.
Organisers said the interschool festival aimed to promote holistic education by integrating physical activity, leadership development and creative expression in a structured competitive environment.
Sports competitions and new additions
The sports segment featured cricket, basketball, volleyball and table tennis, along with futsal, arm wrestling, chess, calisthenics, foosball and tug of war. E-gaming competitions were also part of the programme.
Paddle was introduced to the sporting roster for the first time this year, expanding participation opportunities for students across different age groups.
Academic and creative showcases
Under the Mavericks category, students participated in art competitions, story writing, poetry recitation, singing contests and chess championships. The festival included both curricular and co-curricular activities designed to highlight diverse student talents.

School officials said the event emphasized sportsmanship, discipline and collaboration, while encouraging interschool engagement across the twin cities.
Faculty members, administrators and parents attended the closing ceremony, marking the conclusion of one of the larger interschool gatherings hosted by the institution.
