ormer Pakistan pacer Wasim Akram refrained from expressing his displeasure over Pakistan’s poor performance in the T20 World Cup opener against USA on June 6 in Dallas.
The match ended in a shock defeat for Pakistan which stunned fans and pundits alike.
Wasim Akram slammed the Men in Green in an exclusive interview with a local sports channel, describing their performance in the World Cup opener as ‘disappointing’.
“Disappointing performance. Winning and losing is part of the game. This is bad for Pakistan cricket,” said Akram.
Kings of Swing have provided more insight into Pakistan’s woes in the current tournament.
Pointing to the turning point of the game, Akram said, “The turning point of the game… was USA getting early wickets. Pakistan had a little partnership between Babar and Shadab and then nobody came on. Fielding was average, overall. Cricket from Pakistan is average .”
The 58-year-old also reflected on the unexpected turn of events in the game and gave his fans confidence in Pakistan’s potential.
“When I played against the USA, every Pakistani fan believed that they would win after playing their first innings.”
“In the second game, they (USA) came out to chase… 19 runs in a Super Over is like 36 runs in a Super Over. Well done USA,” he said.
