A Dhaka court has issued an arrest warrant for Bangladeshi star Pori Moni on charges of alleged assault, vandalism, and threats. The warrants were issued on January 25, 2025, and include charges of attack, property damage, attempted murder, and threats. Pori Moni’s designer, Junaid Karim Jimmy, is also facing arrest warrants.
The Dhaka Judicial Magistrate Court 1, chaired by Mohammad Zainid, rejected Pori Moni’s request for more time due to her absence from court and indicated the issuance of arrest warrants. The case is linked to an incident on June 9, 2021, at the Savar Dhaka Boat Club, where Nasser complained that Pori Moni and her associates demanded free alcohol while intoxicated. When Nasser refused, Pori allegedly verbally abused him and threw a glass and phone at him, injuring him, and made threats to kill him before leaving.
Nasser filed a formal complaint on July 6, 2022, but Pori Moni had previously accused Nasser and two others of assault and attempted murder during the same incident, filing a complaint on June 14, 2021. The case is currently pending before the Dhaka Women and Children Abuse Prevention Tribunal 9. In addition to these legal troubles, Pori Moni and two others also face charges under the Narcotics Control Act, which is under investigation in the Dhaka Special Judge Court 10.
