DUNHUANG: Would you have got ever imagined that each one these intricate figurines were crafted from dough? This set of dough sculptures, featuring 30 figures, became stimulated by the work of art of the Dunhuang caves, where a wealth of Buddhist works of art changed into determined. Yang Kai, a 28-year-vintage inheritor of Kongtong dough sculpture from Pingliang City, northwest China’s Gansu Province, converted the ancient wall artwork from flat images into 3-dimensional, shiny scenes the use of his superb capabilities. The art work, created for this year’s Silk Road (Dunhuang) International Cultural Expo, which kicked off on September 21, took Yang approximately one year to finish, with his mother supporting him to build the scenes wherein the figures are located. He plans to feature 13 extra figures to similarly increase the piece.
