ISLAMABAD, Monday, September 21, 2026: The United States has launched the “Innovation Hive” in Islamabad, a new platform designed to connect Pakistani entrepreneurs and startups with American mentors, expertise, technology and business networks.
The facility, established at the United States Educational Foundation in Pakistan (USEFP), was formally inaugurated on Monday by US Chargé d’Affaires Natalie Baker and Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja.
According to the US Embassy, the initiative aims to help emerging Pakistani entrepreneurs transform business ideas into sustainable companies while strengthening commercial and technology links between Pakistan and the United States.
During its first year, the Innovation Hive is expected to connect more than 250 American mentors with Pakistani entrepreneurs at different stages of business development.
The US government will also provide investment support for selected Pakistani entrepreneurs, according to the embassy.
Speaking at the inauguration, Baker said Pakistan had talent across the country but entrepreneurs needed platforms capable of connecting that talent with opportunities.
“Talent exists everywhere in Pakistan; it just needs a place where opportunity can find it,” she said, describing the Innovation Hive as a platform designed to bridge that gap.
She said the initiative was intended to contribute to greater trade, investment and economic opportunities between Pakistan and the United States.
USEFP has traditionally focused on educational exchanges and helping Pakistani students pursue study opportunities in the United States. The Innovation Hive expands that role into entrepreneurship and business development.
US mentors to connect with Pakistani startups
Under the programme, monthly “Links and Leads” sessions will bring Pakistani entrepreneurs together with American mentors and peers to build professional and business networks.
Regular demo days are also planned, allowing Pakistani startups to showcase their products, services and business ideas to wider audiences.
The initiative will additionally offer online certificate programmes focused on practical business skills to help startup founders strengthen their ability to compete and scale their ventures.
The launch comes as Pakistan seeks to expand its technology and startup ecosystem and attract greater international investment into locally developed businesses.
At the same ceremony, Shaza Fatima said the Innovation Hive could serve as a bridge providing Pakistani entrepreneurs with access to the US market, investors and mentorship opportunities without requiring them to leave the country.
She also highlighted Pakistan’s growing startup ecosystem and said initiatives connecting local entrepreneurs with international markets could create new opportunities for young people.
The Innovation Hive is expected to operate as a permanent platform at USEFP Islamabad, bringing together Pakistani entrepreneurial talent and US expertise through mentorship, networking, training and startup showcase programmes.
