U.S. Embassy Islamabad Showcases Arts and Entrepreneurship Ties Under Freedom 250 Initiative

ISLAMABAD, June 18, 2026: The U.S. Embassy in Islamabad, in collaboration with the United States Educational Foundation in Pakistan (USEFP), hosted an arts entrepreneurship showcase bringing together artists, designers, entrepreneurs, and cultural figures to highlight the role of creative industries in economic development and U.S.–Pakistan engagement.

The event featured participation from U.S. Chargé d’Affaires Natalie Baker, Pakistani fashion designer HSY, and broadcaster and filmmaker Tauseeq Haider, who moderated the session. It was organized under the United States’ “Freedom 250” initiative marking 250 years of American independence.

The showcase aimed to promote entrepreneurship in the creative sector while strengthening cultural and economic links between Pakistan and the United States through exhibitions, lectures, and a fashion presentation.

Creative industries and economic linkages

According to the embassy, the event was designed to highlight how arts and design contribute to trade and innovation between the two countries. A key focus was the textile sector, which remains a major component of bilateral economic relations.

Officials noted that Pakistani exports of apparel and clothing to the United States have averaged more than $4 billion annually over the past five years. They also highlighted the role of U.S. cotton exports to Pakistan, which are valued at nearly $800 million per year, underscoring integrated supply chains between the two economies.

Showcase highlights

The programme included an entrepreneurship lecture on business practices, an alumni marketplace featuring 20 members of the Pakistan-U.S. Alumni Network active in creative industries, and a runway show presenting 250 years of American fashion and design evolution.

Organisers said the fashion presentation was intended to reflect the historical development of American textiles and its global cultural influence.
