A US electrician trapped inside a commercial signboard about 130 feet above the ground recorded what he feared could be his final message to his wife and children after becoming stranded for several hours.

According to foreign media reports, the electrician, identified as Gao, was carrying out routine work when he became trapped inside the elevated sign structure. The extreme height and worsening conditions left him fearing that he might not survive the ordeal.

Electrician feared for his life

According to a report by the New York Post, Gao used his phone to record a message for his family as his situation became increasingly dangerous.

In the message, he said he was frightened and did not know what would happen, adding that if something went wrong, the recording could become his final words to his family.

Media reports said the electrician’s condition began to deteriorate because of intense heat and humidity. He asked a colleague who was inside a lift for help, but the lift malfunctioned and could not return to the upper level.

Rescue teams reach the scene

Firefighters, police officers and rescue personnel were alerted and arrived at the scene to assist the trapped worker.

After several hours of rescue efforts, the electrician was safely brought back to the ground and taken to hospital for medical treatment.

Speaking about the incident afterward, Gao said he had never expected to remain trapped at such a height for so long or experience such a dangerous situation.
