Upper Dir Marks Independence Day, Honors Police Heroes

UPPER DIR: Independence Day was celebrated across Upper Dir with national enthusiasm, unity and a renewed pledge to contribute to Pakistan’s security, stability and development.

Green crescent flags were displayed at official and public places across the district as residents expressed their patriotism and love for the country.

The main Independence Day ceremony was held at the District Police Lines, Dir, where Regional Police Officer (RPO) Malakand Fida Hasan Shah and Deputy Commissioner Upper Dir Manzoor Ahmad Afridi jointly hoisted the national flag.

The national anthem was played during the flag-hoisting ceremony, while a smartly turned-out and disciplined contingent of Dir Police presented a salute. Special prayers were also offered for Pakistan’s security, stability, progress, prosperity and continued development.

Civil and police officers, personnel and local notables attended the ceremony.

Addressing the gathering, Deputy Commissioner Manzoor Ahmad Afridi congratulated the nation on Independence Day and said Pakistan was achieved through the historic struggle and sacrifices of the Muslims of the subcontinent under the leadership of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.

He said the elders of the nation had sacrificed their lives, property and homes for the creation of a free homeland.

Afridi stressed that protecting Pakistan’s security, stability and prosperity was a collective responsibility and called for unity and dedication towards national development.

During the ceremony, RPO Malakand Fida Hasan Shah also met police personnel who had demonstrated bravery while defending a police post during the Dobando terrorist attack.

In recognition of their courage and service, Fida Hasan Shah distributed certificates among the police officials who took part in the response to the attack.

The ceremony concluded with renewed expressions of commitment to Pakistan’s security, peace and progress.
