SWAT: The University of Agriculture Swat celebrated Pakistan’s 79th Independence Day with enthusiasm, patriotic spirit and a strong sense of national pride.
The ceremony was attended by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Dawood Jan, faculty members, staff and students. Dr. Mian Ahmad Raza welcomed the participants.
The event began with the hoisting of the national flag, followed by the national anthem and speeches by students.
The students highlighted the historical significance of Pakistan’s independence, the sacrifices of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and other national heroes, and the responsibilities of young people in contributing to the country’s progress and prosperity.
Addressing the ceremony, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Dawood Jan said patriotism was not limited to expressing love for the country but also involved serving the nation with honesty, dedication, discipline and responsible citizenship.
He said university students represented the future of Pakistan and should play a constructive role in the country’s development. He encouraged students to pursue knowledge, develop professional skills, uphold national values and contribute positively to society.
The vice chancellor also stressed the importance of strong character, excellence and hard work rooted in honesty, referring to the saying, “خير الناس من ينفع الناس” — “The best of people are those who benefit others.”
The ceremony concluded with special prayers for Pakistan’s peace, prosperity and stability, as well as for the eternal peace of the martyrs and national heroes who sacrificed their lives for the country.
The event ended with patriotic slogans of “Pakistan Hamesha Zindabad.”
