GUJRAT, September 14: A literary delegation from Kunjah visited the University of Gujrat’s ongoing Seerah exhibition at the Quaid-e-Azam Library, praising the initiative for promoting the study of the life of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) and encouraging reading among young people.
The delegation, representing Bazm-e-Ghanimat-o-Shareef Kunjahi, was led by senior poet Munir Sabri Kunjahi and included Punjabi poet Munir Chishti Kunjahi, fiction writer and columnist Ehsan Faisal Kunjahi, poet Bashir Malang and Humayun Pervaiz Shahid.
The visitors toured the exhibition stalls and reviewed material displayed on the life and teachings of the Holy Prophet (PBUH).
Munir Sabri Kunjahi said the study of Seerah remained an important source of guidance for young people and could help protect them from intellectual drift.
Munir Chishti Kunjahi said initiatives of this kind showed that universities were becoming centres of intellectual and cultural development, rather than serving only as degree-awarding institutions.
Ehsan Faisal Kunjahi said encouraging young people to return to books had become a major challenge and that exhibitions focused on reading and learning could help revive that culture.
Bashir Malang described reading as essential to social refinement, while Humayun Pervaiz Shahid said such activities could help strengthen reading habits among university students.
During the visit, the writers also presented sets of their published works to Senior Librarian Rameeza Mushtaq for inclusion in the library’s collection.
The delegation pledged continued support for the Quaid-e-Azam Library’s Gosha-e-Seerah and Gosha-e-Gujrat sections, being developed under the supervision of Chief Librarian A.R. Sheikh.
Rameeza Mushtaq thanked the visiting writers for their contribution and described them as a valuable literary asset to the region.
