University of Karachi Awards 49 PhDs and 133 MPhil Degrees in Major Academic Milestone

KARACHI: The University of Karachi (KU) has awarded 49 PhD, 133 MPhil and several other postgraduate degrees across a wide range of academic disciplines following the approval of the Advanced Studies and Research Board (ASRB).

The ASRB meeting, chaired by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Khalid Mahmood Iraqi, also approved 22 MS Course Work (30 Credit Hours) degrees, six Master of Surgery (MS) degrees, one Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree and one Master of Laws (LL.M.) degree.

ASRB approves postgraduate degrees

According to the university, the newly awarded degrees cover disciplines including Biochemistry, Chemistry, Commerce, Criminology, History, Islamic Learning, Marine Biology, Mass Communication, Microbiology, Molecular Medicine, Pharmacy, Physics, Psychology, Public Administration, Sociology, Urdu, Zoology and several other academic fields.

The university said the awards recognize the successful completion of advanced research and postgraduate studies by scholars from various departments and research institutes.

MPhil degrees awarded across diverse fields

The ASRB also approved 133 MPhil degrees in subjects such as Applied Economics, Arabic, Botany, Clinical Psychology, Commerce, Economics, Environmental Studies, Food Science and Technology, Genetics, Geography, International Relations, Mathematics, Pakistan Studies, Pharmacy, Philosophy, Physics, Psychology, Public Administration, Quran & Sunnah, Teacher Education, Urdu, Usool-ud-Din and Zoology, among others.

Additional postgraduate qualifications approved

Besides PhD and MPhil degrees, the board awarded:

  • 22 MS Course Work (30 Credit Hours) degrees
  • Six Master of Surgery (MS) degrees
  • One Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree
  • One Master of Laws (LL.M.) degree

The University of Karachi said the approvals reflect its continued commitment to promoting higher education, advanced research and academic excellence across diverse disciplines.
