Jaipur Student Dies After School Canteen Meal

JAIPUR: A 17-year-old Class 12 student died after reportedly falling ill after eating a patty from his school canteen in Jaipur, Rajasthan, with his family alleging that the school failed to provide timely medical assistance.

According to Indian media reports, the student was identified as Prince Soni. He reportedly became unwell after eating food purchased from the school canteen.

The family has alleged that the patty was stale and excessively greasy and became lodged in the student’s throat. They further claimed that school authorities did not arrange timely medical assistance and that the student had died by the time he reached a hospital.

Following a complaint from the family, police registered a case and detained school operator Amit Kumawat and administrator Rajendra Kumar for questioning. Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the student’s death and are seeking to establish the exact cause.

The incident has raised concerns about food safety and emergency medical arrangements at schools.

Police investigations are ongoing, while the allegations made by the family have yet to be established. Recent reporting also indicates that a post-mortem and further investigation are being used to determine the precise cause of death.
