Two Dead, Four Injured in Separate Swat Shootings

SWAT: Two separate shooting incidents in Swat district left two people dead and four others injured, prompting police to launch investigations and search operations for the suspects.

The incidents occurred in Barikot and Manyar, where police have registered separate cases. Authorities said investigations are underway to determine the circumstances surrounding both shootings.

Two Cousins Killed in Barikot Attack

According to police, unidentified armed men opened fire on a vehicle in the Abuha area of Barikot Tehsil, within the jurisdiction of Ghalegay Police Station.

DSP Barikot Circle Said Rahim Khan identified the deceased as Muhammad Ibrahim, son of Sher Afzal, and Dawa Khan, son of Karim Khan, both residents of Lund Khwar in Mardan district.

Police said Head Constable Umar Ali, who serves with the CPEC Security Unit, and his wife were also injured in the attack. They were shifted to Saidu Teaching Hospital for treatment, while the bodies of the deceased were moved to Barikot Hospital for medico-legal formalities and postmortem examinations.

Investigators said the victims were travelling from Mingora to Mardan in a Punjab-registered vehicle when the attackers allegedly opened fire.

Police sources said the deceased were currency dealers and that around Rs30 million was allegedly taken during the incident. A case has been registered against three nominated suspects from Mardan, and raids are underway to arrest them. Police said the motive is being investigated.

Two Women Injured in Separate Manyar Shooting

In a separate incident in the Manyar area of Swat, police said two women were injured after a man allegedly opened fire at the home of his former wife.

According to investigators, the suspect, identified as Ibrahim, had recently returned from Saudi Arabia. Police alleged that he, along with his father, entered the house of his divorced wife and opened fire, injuring her and her sister.

The injured women were taken to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.

Police said a case has been registered against the suspects, and efforts are ongoing to arrest them. Further investigation into the incident is underway.
