WANA: A two-day workshop of mediators organized by UNDP to implement the Alternative Dispute Regulation (ADR) 2020 Act in Lower Waziristan district concluded.
The two-day workshop was organized by P&D Department Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in collaboration with UNDP at the AC Wana Jirga Hall.
On the first day of the workshop, Additional Deputy Commissioner Lower South Waziristan Kashmir Khan in his address as a special guest said to the mediators, that now the role of regional mediators has ended with the merger of administrative authority and the post of political agent after the abolition of FCR law.
He said, while now the government has also changed the status of the agency to the district and appointed the Deputy Commissioner, but with the FCR Act, the role of tribal elders has been very important and exemplary.
He told the participants in the ADR mediators committee that the mediators were experts and lawyers in solving the problems with the organizers of the workshop.
Among the organizers of the workshop, Dr. Ashraf Ali and Wajahat Abbas, along with mediators, media-related journalists were also engaged in the training workshop session.
On this occasion, Dr. Ashraf said that no one can deny the importance of mediators, not only tribal traditions can be maintained through Jirga of elders, but a better solution to a dispute can be found through Jirga.
He said that most of the problems and disputes have been resolved through Jirga and it is the best process of resolution due to the efforts of mediators۔
