Both sides discuss regional security amid Middle East tensions and reaffirm defence collaboration
Islamabad — April 7, 2026: Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Turkish Armed Forces, General Levent Ergün, visited Naval Headquarters in Islamabad and called on Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf to discuss bilateral defence ties and regional maritime security.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the visiting dignitary was received by the naval chief upon arrival. During the meeting, both sides discussed matters of mutual professional interest, with a particular focus on the evolving maritime security environment in light of the ongoing Israel-US-Iran conflict.
The discussions also covered ways to further strengthen bilateral military cooperation, especially in the areas of training and joint exercises.
Admiral Naveed Ashraf highlighted the Pakistan Navy’s contributions toward ensuring regional maritime security. General Ergün acknowledged these efforts and appreciated Pakistan’s role in promoting collaborative maritime security.
Both sides emphasized the importance of deepening defence ties and maintaining close coordination to address emerging regional challenges.
The visit reflects the longstanding strategic partnership between Pakistan and Türkiye and their shared commitment to promoting a secure and stable maritime environment through enhanced military cooperation.
