Another devastating incident of human trafficking has claimed lives as a boat carrying illegal migrants capsized near a southern Greek island.

The tragic incident left five Pakistanis dead and dozens reported missing. According to initial reports, some survivors have been rescued.

President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi expressed their deep sorrow over the incident and extended their condolences and condolences to the bereaved families.

Prime Minister’s Call to Action

“Human tracking is a heinous crime that destroys innocent people. Those responsible will be brought to justice,” said Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, demanding an urgent investigation report. He also stressed that strict measures should be taken to prevent such incidents in the future.

Research and national pressure

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has ordered a thorough investigation into the accident and set up a special inquiry committee headed by Additional Secretary, Ministry of Interior. The committee was directed to submit its report within five days. In addition, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has been tasked with conducting a nationwide crackdown on human trafficking and its networks.

Support for the victim’s family

President Arif Alvi and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that full support would be given to the families of the victims. The prime minister said, “Cruel people are deceived by false promises of a better future. Such perpetrators must be punished severely and concrete steps must be taken to prevent the recurrence of such tragedies.”

Concerns about human trafficking

This is the second major incident involving Pakistani migrants in Greece in the last 18 months. Experts stress the need for stronger enforcement of anti-trafficking laws to save innocent lives and dismantle networks that exploit vulnerable people.

Crisis unit activated in Greece as one Pakistani dead, 47 others rescued in boat mishap

The Foreign Office has confirmed that one Pakistani man drowned while 47 others were rescued in a boat capsizing incident in southern Greece and activated its crisis management unit there to help families.

Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mumtaz Zahra Baloch said a search and rescue operation was underway after the ship capsized. She did not confirm the number of dead or missing Pakistanis.

She said the Pakistan Embassy in Athens is in touch with the Greek Coast Guard, which is directly involved in the search and rescue operation.

Embassy officials also reached the Greek island of Crete to meet and help the rescued Pakistanis.
