TIMERGARA: Bakhtwar Syed Sadat, a resident of Gorgiya Tangi Dara near Timergara, has rejected allegations levelled against his family by his uncle, Bakhtzada, and cousins over a dispute involving ancestral property, describing the accusations as false and defamatory.
Addressing a press conference at the Timergara Press Club on Wednesday, Bakhtwar was accompanied by his brother, Baharwar Syed Sadat, and his sons, Syed Salman, Syed Abrar and Syed Zahoor Ahmad.
Bakhtwar said the family acknowledged the legal rights of their uncles and aunts to their respective shares in the ancestral property. However, he maintained that his uncles and cousins had no claim to property purchased by his father.
He strongly rejected allegations that his family was involved in land grabbing or had links with terrorists, calling the accusations misleading and damaging to their reputation.
Bakhtwar announced that legal notices had been issued to those responsible for the allegations and said the family intended to pursue the matter in court.
Family Disputes New Inheritance Claims
Speaking at the press conference, Baharwar Syed Sadat alleged that his uncle Bakhtzada and cousins, including Shaukat Ayaz, had levelled false accusations against the family during a press conference held a few days earlier.
He said the ancestral property had been formally divided in 1994, after which his uncle sold his share and spent the proceeds. Baharwar alleged that the renewed inheritance claim was an attempt to pressure the family and damage its reputation.
He also stated that three of his uncles were still alive, while Bakhtzada was the only uncle who had passed away. He reiterated that the family recognised the rightful inheritance claims of all eligible relatives.
The brothers clarified that their uncle was entitled to a share in certain portions of the jointly owned ancestral property. However, they said the relevant matter was already subject to a stay order issued by a competent court.
They added that they had approached the court over the allegations and expressed confidence that the matter would be resolved through legal proceedings.
Family Calls for Respect Despite Dispute
At the conclusion of the press conference, the brothers adopted a conciliatory tone, saying that despite what they described as defamatory conduct by their cousins, family relationships remained worthy of respect because of their blood ties.
The dispute centres on competing claims over ancestral and privately purchased property. The allegations and counterclaims presented at the press conference represent the family’s account of the matter; their legal merits remain subject to the relevant court proceedings.
