TikTok Star Killed Live Before Thousands of Viewers

A Mexican social media influencer with nearly 600,000 TikTok followers was shot dead while livestreaming in the city of Culiacán, in the state of Sinaloa, authorities have confirmed. The fatal attack has sparked widespread reactions on social media as investigators search for those responsible.

According to local reports, César Gastélum was filming a video with two friends outside a fast-food restaurant. The group was reportedly wearing orange jackets and delivery-style backpacks when the attack occurred.

Gunman Opened Fire During Livestream

Witness accounts indicate that two men arrived on a motorcycle, and one of them approached Gastélum before opening fire. He died at the scene from his injuries.

Authorities have confirmed that a large-scale operation is underway to identify and arrest the suspects.

Investigation Underway

Mexico’s Security Cabinet said investigators are reviewing Gastélum’s social media activity as part of the inquiry. Officials stated that some of his posts allegedly referenced a faction of a criminal group, though no conclusions have been announced regarding a possible motive.

Investigators are also examining CCTV footage and other evidence to identify those involved in the attack.

César Gastélum had built an audience of around 600,000 followers on TikTok, where he was widely known for sharing comedy and entertainment videos.

Authorities have not announced any arrests, and the investigation remains ongoing.
