Bollywood action star Tiger Shroff is set to expand his involvement in professional football after being named in Mumbay FC’s squad for the 135th Durand Cup.
Shroff has reportedly been training regularly with the team and could feature during the club’s group-stage campaign in Shillong. Mumbay FC is scheduled to travel to the northeastern city on July 30.
The development would mark Shroff’s debut in the Durand Cup, one of Asia’s oldest football tournaments. However, it would not be his first appearance in professional football, as the actor previously played for Mumbay FC in the Mumbai Premier League in October 2024.
Club Confirms Shroff’s Squad Registration
Mumbay FC technical director Zoheb Khan confirmed that Shroff had been registered in the squad, according to Indian media reports. The club is also making additional security arrangements due to the large crowds his appearance could attract.
Reports suggest the coaching staff has been impressed by Shroff’s fitness, discipline and performance during training. His continued involvement could lead to further appearances for the club, although his place in the playing lineup will depend on team selection and match requirements.
Mumbay FC, backed by entrepreneur Ali Ahmed, qualified for the Durand Cup after establishing itself in domestic competition. Shroff has been associated with the club since its launch and has helped promote its efforts to provide emerging footballers with a competitive platform.
The actor is widely known for maintaining a demanding fitness routine involving martial arts, gymnastics, parkour and high-intensity workouts. His possible Durand Cup appearance represents another step in his long-standing interest in competitive sport.
