SWAT: The third meeting of the Malakand Varsities Consortium (M-Varsities Consortium) was held at the University of Swat, bringing together the heads of major public sector universities of Malakand Division. Special Secretary Higher Education, Archives and Libraries Department, Mr. Sharif Hussain, attended the meeting as Chief Guest and also chaired the session. Vice Chancellors of the University of Swat, University of Malakand, University of Buner, Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University Sheringal (Dir Upper), University of Engineering and Applied Sciences Swat, University of Agriculture Swat, and University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Swat participated in the meeting, while the Principal Saidu Medical College represented Khyber Medical University, Peshawar.

During the meeting, participants discussed and finalized the working paper of the consortium and formally signed the Letter of Intent (LoI). The LoI, designed by Vice Chancellor University of Swat, Prof. Dr. Hassan Sher, aims to harness the collective strengths of partner universities to promote academic collaboration, research and innovation, capacity building, and socio-economic development across the region.
The meeting held detailed deliberations on key objectives of the consortium, including academic collaboration, research and innovation, faculty and staff development, youth engagement and social development, policy advocacy, external linkages, governance structure, and the future roadmap of the consortium.
At the conclusion of the meeting, participants expressed their gratitude to the Special Secretary Higher Education for chairing the session and appreciated the Vice Chancellor University of Swat for hosting and organizing the meeting.
