ISLAMABAD: Telenor Pakistan has formally been amalgamated into Pak Telecom Mobile Limited (PTML), operating under Ufone 5G, following final approval from the Islamabad High Court, marking one of the country’s largest telecom sector consolidations.

The development, effective from July 2026, ends Telenor Pakistan’s status as a separate legal entity. Its operations, network infrastructure, and customer base will now be integrated into PTML, creating a combined telecom operator with expanded network reach and increased capacity for future digital and 5G services in Pakistan.

The merger follows completion of regulatory approvals from relevant statutory bodies, concluding a process that involved multiple oversight institutions. According to the announcement issued in Islamabad, the court’s approval finalised the transaction and cleared the way for full operational integration.

As part of the consolidation, PTML will absorb Telenor Pakistan’s assets and services into its system. The company said the integration aims to strengthen spectrum resources and improve investment potential for next-generation connectivity.

PTCL President and CEO Hatem Bamatraf described the merger as a key milestone for the company and Pakistan’s telecom industry, thanking government institutions, employees, and customers for their role in the process.

He said the combined entity will focus on expanding 5G coverage, strengthening digital infrastructure, and maintaining continuity of services for both Ufone and former Telenor customers during the integration phase.
