LAHORE (Abu Hurara Alvi): Tourism Development Corporation of Punjab (TDCP) held a press briefing and promotional launch ceremony for the 10th Thall Desert Rally 2025 at the Lahore Museum Auditorium. The event marked the formal announcement of Punjab’s largest motorsport and cultural tourism festival, which will take place from 6th to 9th November 2025, transforming the desert belt of Layyah, Kot Addu, and Muzaffargarh into a vibrant hub of motorsports, folk culture, and heritage tourism.
Leadership and Vision Behind the Rally
Secretary Tourism, Archaeology & Museums Punjab, Dr. Ehsan Bhutta, proudly announced the event while addressing the media briefing. He stated that the Thall Desert Rally 2025 is being organized under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Punjab, Maryam Nawaz, and the supervision of Senior Minister Maryam Aurangzeb, who has ensured strong cultural preservation and public engagement elements.
Promoting Culture, Heritage, and Economic Growth
Dr. Bhutta emphasized that the Thall Desert Rally is not merely a motorsport competition but a cultural and economic catalyst designed to promote South Punjab’s living desert heritage, craftsmanship, folk traditions, and Sufi-rooted identity. He highlighted that the event will significantly contribute to community empowerment and sustainable tourism growth.
Administrative and Security Support
He further informed that the Deputy Commissioners of Layyah, Kot Addu, and Muzaffargarh have extended full administrative, logistical, and hospitality support for the smooth organization of the rally and accompanying cultural melas, aimed at empowering local artists, folk performers, and desert communities. Dr. Bhutta also noted that Punjab Police, Rangers, Rescue 1122, and the Health Department will provide comprehensive security and emergency services to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for both participants and spectators.
Star Racers and Cultural Attractions
Speaking on the occasion, Managing Director TDCP, Mr. Asim Raza, said that around 100 drivers, including female racers and top champions such as Mir Nadir Magsi, Sahibzada Sultan Muhammad Ali, Zain Mehmood, and the Khakwani Brothers, will take part in this year’s competition. He added that the event will feature folk music nights, camel and horse shows, tent-pegging competitions, artisan bazaars, and desert heritage performances, offering a grand celebration of South Punjab’s vibrant identity and adventure spirit.
Strategic Partnerships for Promotion
During the ceremony, an MoU was signed between TDCP and Discover Pakistan & PakWheels to enhance collaboration for the event. Under this partnership, Discover Pakistan will serve as the official media partner, while PakWheels will be the official digital media partner for the 10th Thall Desert Rally 2025. Representatives from both organizations, Mr. Sunil Manj and Dr. Qaiser Rafiq, expressed their commitment to promoting the rally as a landmark tourism and adventure event in Punjab.

The event concluded with the official launch of the TDCP 10th Thall Desert Rally 2025, followed by a Q&A session and group photograph. The rally is expected to attract national and international participants, turning the majestic Thal desert into a dynamic celebration of speed, adventure, and culture that showcases the enduring spirit of Punjab.
