LAHORE, September 9: TCL has sued Samsung in a US federal court, alleging that the South Korean electronics giant falsely markets some of its televisions as “Mini LED” despite allegedly lacking certain features associated with the technology.
The lawsuit, filed in a Los Angeles federal court, concerns Samsung’s M Model televisions, according to a Reuters report cited by TCL. The company alleges that Samsung’s use of the “Mini LED” label could mislead consumers into believing the sets offer the technological benefits and performance generally associated with Mini LED displays.
TCL, which describes itself as a pioneer of Mini LED technology and one of the early companies to bring the technology to the market, is seeking a court order preventing Samsung from using the “Mini LED” name and related claims in what it considers a misleading manner.
The company is also seeking damages, although the amount has not been specified.
Samsung has rejected the allegations and said it will vigorously defend itself in court. The company maintains that it stands behind the quality of its televisions and the accuracy of the information provided to consumers.
The legal dispute comes as Mini LED and other advanced display technologies become increasingly important in the global television market. Premium television technologies are also becoming more widely available to consumers in Pakistan.
The case remains ongoing, and TCL’s allegations have not been established as facts by a court.
