Syngenta Pakistan launches Rs. 50 million relief drive for flood-hit farmers in Punjab

LAHORE/MULTAN: In a powerful show of corporate responsibility and agricultural solidarity, Syngenta Pakistan has launched a major relief initiative to support farmers affected by the recent floods in Punjab. The program, valued at PKR 50 million, aims to help restore livelihoods and revive agricultural productivity across the Multan and Sahiwal divisions — two of the province’s most fertile yet flood-ravaged regions.

First Phase Targets 12,000 Acres with Seeds, PPEs, and Crop Protection

The first phase of the initiative, worth PKR 25 million, is already underway. It includes the distribution of crop protection products, vegetable seeds, and personal protective equipment (PPEs) to farmers working to rehabilitate nearly 12,000 acres of damaged farmland.

Launch Ceremony in Sahiwal Draws Provincial Leaders and Syngenta Executives

The launch ceremony was held at Model Agrimall in Sahiwal and attended by key provincial officials, including Punjab’s Minister for Agriculture Syed Ashiq Hussain Kirmani, Secretary Agriculture Iftikhar Ali Sahoo, and Commissioner Sahiwal Division Dr. Asif Tufail. Senior leadership from Syngenta Pakistan — including Country General Manager Mr. Zeeshan Hasib Baig, Head of Corporate Affairs & Business Sustainability Syed Ali Murtaza, and Head of Sales Banaras Habib — were also present to personally distribute the aid and engage with local farmers.

Syngenta Pakistan Emphasizes Resilience and Rural Sustainability

“Our farmers are the backbone of Pakistan’s economy, and it is our duty to support them in times of adversity,” said Mr. Zeeshan Hasib Baig, Country General Manager,  Syngenta Pakistan. “This initiative is not just about recovery — it’s about resilience, sustainability, and ensuring that rural communities can thrive again.”

Floods Devastate Farmland, Prompting Urgent Agricultural Support

The floods, which struck earlier this year, left thousands of acres submerged and disrupted the livelihoods of countless farming families. Syngenta’s intervention is designed to provide immediate relief while also laying the groundwork for long-term recovery through sustainable agricultural inputs.

CSR Strategy Focuses on Climate-Smart Agriculture and Food Security

The company’s commitment to rural prosperity is part of its broader corporate social responsibility (CSR) strategy, which focuses on empowering farmers, promoting climate-smart agriculture, and strengthening food security across Pakistan.

Public-Private Partnerships Strengthen Agricultural Resilience

By stepping in with timely support, Syngenta Pakistan is not only helping farmers get back on their feet but also reinforcing the critical role of public-private partnerships in building a more resilient agricultural sector. The initiative has been widely welcomed by local authorities and farming communities alike, who see it as a beacon of hope in the wake of disaster.

Second Phase to Expand Relief and Recovery Across Punjab’s Heartland

As the second phase of the program rolls out in the coming weeks, Syngenta Pakistan aims to expand its reach and impact — continuing to plant the seeds of recovery, growth, and long-term sustainability in Pakistan’s heartland.
