SWITCH Mobility, the electric vehicle manufacturer backed by the Hinduja Group, has secured an order to supply 650 electric buses to Sai Green Projects Pvt. Ltd. for deployment in Mumbai and Pune under the Government of India’s PM E-Drive Phase II initiative.
The order marks a significant expansion of electric public transport in two of India’s largest cities and supports the country’s efforts to reduce emissions and modernise urban mobility.
Buses to Serve Mumbai and Pune
Under the agreement, SWITCH Mobility will supply 9-metre electric buses through the CESL PM E-Drive Phase II tender.
The order includes:
- Air-conditioned electric buses for Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST)
- Non-air-conditioned electric buses for Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML)
Sai Green Projects Pvt. Ltd. has been selected as the operator for the project.

SWITCH Mobility CEO Ganesh Mani said the deployment of 650 electric buses represents an important step toward India’s goal of lowering transport emissions, improving operating efficiency, and upgrading public transport systems.
He said the partnership with Sai Green Projects marks the beginning of a long-term collaboration under the PM E-Drive programme, with the company focused on delivering reliable and efficient electric mobility solutions.
Focus on Large-Scale Fleet Operations
Chief Commercial Officer R.G. Venkataraman said the order demonstrates SWITCH Mobility’s ability to deliver electric buses at scale while helping fleet operators run more efficient and commercially sustainable transport services.

Sai Green Projects CEO Vikas Gupta said the collaboration aligns with the company’s commitment to sustainable development and cleaner public transportation.
He expressed confidence that the new electric buses would improve the daily commuting experience for passengers in Mumbai and Pune.
Expanding Electric Bus Network
According to SWITCH Mobility, the company has already deployed more than 2,500 electric buses across India, with its global electric bus fleet collectively covering over 185 million kilometres.
The company also manufactures electric light commercial vehicles under its SWITCH IeV product range.
