A man accused of killing his wife and dumping her body in a graveyard was killed in a police encounter in the Matta area of Swat, officials said on Friday.
According to a police spokesperson, the suspect identified as Saif-ul-Malook, a resident of Wardag Matta, was wanted in case number 132 under Section 302 registered at Chprial Police Station for the murder of his wife on June 13, 2026.
Police said a team led by the Station House Officer (SHO) Chprial conducted a raid based on intelligence to arrest the suspect.
Exchange of fire during raid
Officials stated that as soon as police approached, the suspect opened fire on the raiding team. Police responded in what they described as self-defence, resulting in an exchange of fire in which the suspect was killed on the spot.
Police have taken custody of the body and initiated legal formalities. Further investigation is underway.
