KARACHI: Pakistani television actress Sumaiyya Bukhsh has said that appearing in just two vlogs by popular YouTuber Rajab Butt brought her more public recognition than seven years of work in the television industry.
In a viral video, the actress reflected on the sudden increase in attention she received after appearing on Rajab Butt’s family entertainment channel.
Sumaiyya said she was being completely serious when she made the comparison, noting that she had spent years working in television but gained significantly more visibility after appearing in the two vlogs.
“I’m not lying. I’m seriously saying this — it has been seven years, but after appearing in those two vlogs, I became more famous,” she said.
Her comments have sparked discussion online about the growing influence of social media creators and family-vlogging channels in Pakistan, particularly when compared with the reach of traditional television entertainment.
Sumaiyya has been associated with Pakistan’s television industry for several years and has appeared in a number of drama serials. She is also set to appear in a key role in Rajab Butt’s upcoming film.
Her remarks have added to the wider conversation about how digital platforms are changing the way Pakistani actors and entertainers reach audiences and build popularity.
