Sukkur-Hyderabad M-6 Motorway Construction to Begin in November: Aleem Khan

ISLAMABAD: Construction of the long-awaited Sukkur-Hyderabad M-6 Motorway will formally begin in November, Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan announced on Sunday.

In a statement posted on X, the minister said preparatory work on the project was progressing rapidly and the formal groundbreaking ceremony would also be held next month.

Aleem Khan said the motorway project, which had remained pending for nearly three decades, was finally moving towards construction.

He described the M-6 as an important infrastructure project that could strengthen trade and commercial activity in Sindh while improving wider connectivity across the country.

According to the minister, the motorway is also expected to support economic growth by improving regional transport links and facilitating the movement of goods and people.

Aleem Khan said President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari would be specially invited to attend the groundbreaking ceremony.

The Sindh chief minister and members of the provincial cabinet would also be invited to participate.

The communications minister described the Sukkur-Hyderabad M-6 Motorway as a major development project for Sindh and said its construction would mark an important step towards improving connectivity and economic activity.
