RAWALPINDI: Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi and South Dakota State University in the United States have discussed expanding academic and research cooperation in areas including agricultural sciences, geospatial technologies, remote sensing and climate-smart agriculture.
Dr. Daniel Saud of South Dakota State University, Brookings, visited PMAS-Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi and met Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Qamar-uz-Zaman to explore possible institutional collaboration between the two universities.
During the meeting, the vice chancellor briefed the visiting scholar on the university’s academic programmes, research strengths and international partnerships, with particular emphasis on innovation and technology-based solutions to agricultural and environmental challenges.
The discussions covered potential cooperation in joint research, student and faculty exchanges, capacity building, geospatial technologies, remote sensing, climate-smart agriculture and other areas linked to food security and sustainable resource management.
Dr. Saud also visited research facilities at the university and interacted with faculty members and researchers.
He was briefed on ongoing work in agriculture, food security, climate resilience and emerging technologies aimed at improving sustainable management of natural resources.
Dr. Saud appreciated the university’s research and innovation initiatives and expressed interest in developing institutional linkages that could create opportunities for collaborative research and academic exchange.
Both sides underlined the importance of international academic partnerships in strengthening knowledge sharing, research collaboration and opportunities for students and researchers.
The university administration said it remained committed to expanding partnerships with leading international institutions and creating more avenues for academic and research cooperation.
