DUBAI: Sindh Tourism Minister Zulfikar Ali Shah on Thursday said religious corridors like Kartarpur could be established in provinces along the Pakistan-India border to facilitate Hindu and Jain followers.
Addressing an event in Dubai on tourism development in Sindh, Shah said the corridor could be built in Umarkot and Nagarparkar, which have several historic Jain temples.
He said there is a legion of Hindus and Jains who want to visit Sindh.
Shah said the Sindh government may start weekly flights from India to Sukkur or Larkana also for religious tourists.
Umarkot is home to the Sri Shiv Mandir, considered one of the oldest Hindu temples in Sindh.
Some believe it was built over 2,000 years ago. But in an interview with an international news service, local Indian community leaders said it was 5,000 years old.
Meanwhile, there are many abandoned Jain temples in Nagarparkar.
