Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Sher Afzal Marwat has been acquitted by the Islamabad District and Sessions Court in a spear-related case in the Supreme Court. The verdict, which was reserved after hearing Marwat’s pleas for acquittal, was announced on Saturday. The court dismissed all charges against Marwat and co-accused Fatahullah Baraki, who were involved in the incident registered at the Secretariat Police Station. In October 2023, Sher Afzal Marwat was charged in a case involving a scuffle in the Supreme Court. The case was filed by Constable Javed Humayun at Islamabad Secretariat Police Station. In his FIR, the constable alleged that Sher Afzal Marwat physically assaulted him in the High Court parking lot and seriously threatened him. The FIR further alleged that Marwat tried to run him over with a vehicle. In addition, an FIR was registered in December 2023 against Sher Afzal Khan Marwat and workers for organizing a labor convention in Swabia. Police charged 21 local PTI leaders and others for violating Section 144. In September 2023, PTI chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan and Member of the National Assembly (MNA) Sher Afzal Marwat were arrested by the police outside Parliament House after the September 2023 National Assembly session. According to Express News, a heavy police presence has gathered outside Parliament in anticipation. As the PTI leaders left the building, the police took up positions and quickly moved to arrest Marwat. During Marwat’s arrest, there was reportedly a scuffle between Marwat’s supporters and the police. However, the police managed to surround and arrest the MNA and seize his vehicle before leaving the scene.
