ISLAMABAD, September 24 — Federal Minister for IT and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja on Thursday inaugurated Huawei’s first national-level Spare Parts Repair Center in Pakistan, a facility designed to build local technical capacity, reduce dependence on overseas repairs and strengthen the country’s telecom infrastructure.

Huawei Pakistan Chief Executive Officer Ethan Sun attended the inauguration.

Speaking at the event, Shaza Fatima said the Digital Nation Pakistan vision focuses on developing a skilled and future-ready workforce capable of competing and creating value in global markets.

She said Pakistan was moving from being primarily a consumer of technology towards becoming a creator, builder and exporter of digital solutions, supported by local skills and innovation.

The minister described the new Huawei repair facility as an important step towards strengthening Pakistan’s digital and telecommunications ecosystem by expanding local expertise and technical capacity.

She also appreciated Huawei’s investment in Pakistan and its focus on knowledge transfer and capacity building, saying such partnerships could strengthen the resilience of telecom infrastructure and contribute to a more connected and digitally empowered country.

Huawei Pakistan CEO Ethan Sun said the company was committed to developing sustainable technical expertise in Pakistan.

“This center reflects our vision of translating global technology into local capability, ensuring faster service and stronger networks for the country,” he said.

Center Can Process Over 10,000 Modules Annually

The facility will provide repair, testing, troubleshooting and maintenance services for Huawei telecommunications equipment deployed across Pakistan.

According to details provided at the launch, the center has 16 specialised repair desks and can support more than 180 equipment item codes covering wireless, microwave, digital power and access-network technologies.

Huawei’s diagnostic platforms will be used for fault detection and load testing.

The center is staffed by more than 10 local hardware specialists with over 12 years of Huawei maintenance experience and expert-level training from the company’s headquarters in China.

It has the capacity to process more than 10,000 modules annually and return over 6,000 repaired components to service each year, with an average repair success rate of approximately 60%.

Local diagnosis and repairs are expected to shorten turnaround times, reduce equipment replacement requirements and lower dependence on overseas repair services.

The facility is also intended to provide faster technical support during national disasters and emergencies when maintaining telecom network continuity becomes particularly critical.
