SHANGLA: A two-storey residential house was completely destroyed in a sudden fire in Shehtoot Kalay, located in the district headquarters area of Alpuri, Shangla, causing substantial financial losses to the affected family.
According to local sources, the fire broke out unexpectedly at the house of Bashir Khatir. The flames rapidly intensified and engulfed both floors of the building.
After noticing the fire, a large number of local residents rushed to the scene and attempted to extinguish the blaze through self-help efforts. Despite their continued efforts, the intensity of the fire resulted in extensive damage, with both floors eventually reduced to ashes.
Furniture, household valuables and other belongings were also destroyed in the blaze.
No casualties were reported. The exact cause of the fire remains unknown.
The affected family said valuable household possessions were lost and estimated that the financial damage could run into millions of rupees. The family is now facing severe hardship and has appealed to the government, philanthropists and well-wishers for financial assistance.
Local residents have also called on the authorities to improve the availability of firefighting and emergency rescue services in remote areas of Shangla.
They said delays in accessing emergency services can allow fires to spread rapidly, resulting in the complete destruction of homes and property before assistance reaches the affected communities.
